Effective Date: September 10, 2026
This page explains how the Modcado website uses cookies, and what that means if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom.
In short: we use Google Analytics to understand how this site is used, and it only runs if you agree. Decline and nothing is loaded from Google at all. We run no advertising or tracking cookies either way.
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between pages or visits. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, tracking pixels — do the same job in a different way. This page covers all of them.
The first time you visit, we ask whether we may measure how the site is used. Nothing analytics-related happens until you answer.
If you decline, no request is made to Google at all. The measurement script is not loaded, not merely disabled — nothing about your visit reaches them.
If you accept, Google Analytics 4 loads and sets two cookies:
We configure it to record only audience measurement: IP addresses are truncated before storage, and advertising features, remarketing and ad personalisation are switched off and stay off whatever you choose. Analytics data is processed by Google, which may involve transfer outside the EEA and the UK under Google’s own safeguards.
Your answer is remembered in a cookie named `mc-analytics-consent`, set on `.modcado.com` so that one decision covers both this site and our community site at community.modcado.com. It stores only the word “granted” or “denied”, expires after six months, and is strictly necessary: remembering a refusal is what stops us asking again on every page.
You can withdraw or give consent at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer, which reopens the banner. Declining after having accepted stops the script loading on your next page view; clearing your browser cookies removes the `_ga` cookies already stored.
Two cookies can be set regardless of your analytics choice, both strictly necessary, and neither set unless you do something that requires it.
If you open a password-protected page on this site and enter the password, WordPress stores a cookie named `wp-postpass_` followed by a unique identifier for this site. It records that you unlocked that page, so you are not asked again on every visit. It expires after 10 days.
If you sign in to administer this website, WordPress sets session cookies that keep you signed in and remember your admin screen preferences. These are only ever set for people with an account on the site, never for ordinary visitors.
Our links to Discord, Reddit, Telegram, and YouTube are ordinary links. Nothing from those services runs on this website, and they are told nothing about you unless you choose to follow a link — at which point that service’s own privacy policy applies.
Under the ePrivacy Directive and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, a website must obtain your consent before storing anything on your device that is not strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for.
That is why the analytics banner exists, why declining is a genuine choice with no loss of access, and why nothing loads before you answer. The strictly necessary cookies described above do not require consent and are not covered by the banner.
The GDPR governs personal data more broadly. How Modcado handles personal data, and the rights you have over it, are set out in the Privacy Policy.
You can delete cookies already stored, and block future ones, in your browser’s settings. Every major browser offers this under a “Privacy” or “Cookies and site data” heading.
Blocking the password cookie will mean password-protected pages ask for the password again on each visit. Nothing else on this site depends on cookies.
This page covers the website only. The Modcado desktop application does not use cookies. What it collects, what stays on your computer, and what is sent to us is described in the Privacy Policy.
If our use of cookies changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
Questions about this page, or about privacy generally, can be sent to info@modcado.com.
